To effectively combat climate change, it is necessary to eliminate CO2 from the atmosphere as well as reduce carbon emissions, and wood achieves both.
This is because wood absorbs carbon and has a much lower energy consumption compared to other building materials, such as concrete and steel, which, in addition to being non-renewable, require greater amounts of fossil fuel to be produced.
Canadian architect Michael Green speaks at the Technology, Entertainment and Design conference in Vancouver in 2011 about how using wood can help fight climate change.
